Given the year that we all have had, we are all looking forward to the Christmas break to get a bit of respite from COVID and spend quality time with our families, albeit restricted to small groupings. The last thing we want is for the Christmas break to turn into a Christmas nightmare, so we have put together a short list of 12 safety tips to guide your safely through the holidays.

- Respect Covid Advice; Follow government advice and limit interactions.
- Socialise Safely; Stick to small family groupings and wear a mask as much as possible.
- Act responsibly; Consult your GP if experiencing any signs of COVID-19.
- Fire Alarm working; Check that your smoke detectors are working, if not replace.
- Air is safe: Check that your carbon monoxide detector is working correctly, if not replace.
- Stay Switched On; Ensure you check that all electric decorations are switched off at night.
- Candles Out; It is best to avoid using candles, but if used, never leave lit ones unattended.
- Everyone Secure; Before bed, secure external doors and close all internal doors.
- Safe Food; Store, prepare, cook and dispose of food safely to avoid an upset stomach.
- Drink Sensibly; If drinking, drink in moderation, think of the next day.
- Drive with Caution; Take care on the roads, and remember don’t drink and drive.
- Re-charge batteries; Make sure you relax, gets lots of walks and fresh air and have some me time.
