COVID-19 - Keeping Safe In Non-Clinical Environments

We believe at Compliplus that even our small company can support the national effort to protect individuals from infection and eradicate Covid 19 so that everyone can return to normality. We are aware that there is a vast amount of Covid 19 information available for both individuals and organisations, however we believe that there is a gap in relation to the provision of appropriate training for 2nd line workers. These are workers that do not work in clinical environments but play a key role in Irish society and even more so during this Covid 19 emergency. These 2nd line workers are everywhere and work for government, semi state, local authority, charitable organisations, commercial organisations, nursing homes, community call volunteers, etc. In fact, there are tens of thousands of 2nd line workers within this grouping that effectively will be putting themselves at risk by assisting individuals that are suspected of having Covid 19 or have Covid 19.

Whilst there is no doubt that a percentage of these 2nd line workers will have received the appropriate training in the risks associated with Covid 19, how to maintain hand hygiene, the selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), etc,  it is abundantly clear that a significant number will not have had any formal training. This is a cause for concern as firstly it puts workers at risk which in turn puts their colleagues and family at risk, and secondly it allows Covid 19 to continue infecting people which will have the effect of extending the Covid 19 Emergency.

In an effort to address this gap, we have focused our resources on the development of a specific Online Covid 19 Course to train workers in this sector. The course is designed to provide the required knowledge and skills to ensure that each worker can take the appropriate precautions in a variety of different Covid 19 situations that may arise during their important and necessary work.

The course is divided into the following modules;

  • Introduction
  • Covid 19 Risks and Associated Controls
  • Identified areas of interaction with clients/tenants
  • Requirements of safe interaction with individuals with suspected or actual Covid 19
  • Donning and removing various items of Personal Protection Equipment which is called PP, like disposal gloves, surgical masks, protective aprons, etc.
  • Management of PPE
  • Typical PPE set up and Covid 19 Arrangements for different situations
  • Ways to support individuals with suspected or actual Covid 19
  • Dealing with Covid Emergencies;
  • The importance Self Care during this difficult time

This course lasts for approximately 80 minutes and there is a brief questionnaire for you to complete at the end.

We are committed to providing an initial 20,000 courses free of charge to any organisation or individuals working in this sector in Ireland. Should the demand exceed this, we will endeavour to increase the availability. Organisations and individuals can simply email This email address is being protected from spambots. Like most organisations all our staff are working from home, however this should not impede our ability to support this initiative.

We would appreciate any offers of support, particularly in relation to getting the message out to the organisations and individuals working in this sector. Finally, it is important to ensure that everyone heeds the HSE advice in relation to Covid 19 and complies with the associate government restrictions. I am aware that this is difficult, but in doing so, we will get out the other end quicker, and more importantly, with significantly fewer fatalities.

Best wishes to all and keep safe.
